Finnish Association for Media and Communication Studies

The Finnish Association for Media and Communication Studies (Mevi) strives to promote media and communication research by making the field known both in the scientific community and elsewhere. We have approximately 300 members, most of them in Finland.

The association keeps in contact with both Finnish and international researchers, organizations and research institutes. We co-operate actively with other Nordic research associations, Nordicom (Nordic Information Center for Media and Communications Research), and Nordmedia Network. Mevi is also an associate member of the International Association for Media and Communication Research IAMCR and the European Communication Research and Education Association ECREA.

In Finland Mevi follows developments in the media and communication field, observes research policies and educational policies and engages in public discussion on these issues. The association also takes up essential themes of media and communication research in the journal Media & viestintä and in the conferences it organizes.
